Parwaaz ~ The Flight of the Soul

For about 9 hours last evening, a song stayed with me, to the extent, I forgot for a while who I was, where I was and all I wanted to do was to somehow get inside the song and live there foever. The outcome of the madness follows later, but before we get there, the song in question:

Senaan Ra Baairya

Roh wit who writes Almost a review per post…Almost! has kindly allowed me to use the lyrics + translation that he shared on his blog back in 2011. [Click Here]

And here’s the madness:
When he begins that song and says dheemo dheemo madhro
it just takes me to the dunes

the ones i’ve never seen

and i just want to walk the entire desert
under a full moon
and hear the desert singing this to me

from dusk till dawn, that’s all i will do
so that my legs hurt when i wake up
because i have walked
felt the cool sand under my feet
have my soul drenched in the moon
have the tiny little grains of sand sparkling like tiny stars
caught in my hair
and this song
it holds my hand
guides me along

every imagined palm tree
every imagined oasis
all the shadows
all the falcons
all the stories
of all the travelers

maybe i too will be able to whirl away with the wind

and become one with the sand
and be a part of the desert forever
and sing this to every creature that comes to me
maybe another me
in another lifetime
walking
drifting

coming in from the horizon
and the sea

and looking to be lost
till she becomes me too
and we sing together
yet again
and again
and again

  1. Ah! The violin…the mood and the song..Words fail me to compliment this song, everytime.

  2. your emotions after hearing this song are so evident in what you wrote so beautifully.
